Connect For

Are you looking to make lasting connections and learn more about essential topics in the Windsor-Essex Community and beyond? Then, join us for our new series, Connect For. This free, in-person networking event will take place monthly, focusing on a different theme or industry.

Our first session will be titled “Connect For Intentional Movement.”

Mental health is at the forefront of many conversations in our everyday lives. As a result, many organizations, entrepreneurs, and community members are working to alleviate it by creating a sustainable and vital path for future generations.

During this two-part event, attendees will have the opportunity to network with like-minded folks, professionals in the mental health space, advocates, and community members looking to create an impact and drive change.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from a fantastic panel that will address the needs of folks with mental health challenges and how organizations, entrepreneurs, and community members can better work toward an intentional movement.

Meet our Panelists:

Marlow Downey
Case Worker at Windsor Essex Community Health Centre

Marlow was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and grew up in Windsor, Ontario. He attended the University of Windsor, where he double majored in Psychology and Disability Studies. Marlow is currently employed as a Mental Health and Addictions Case Worker, part of an initiative that provides and finds culturally safe mental health and addictions services and resources for Black youth in the Windsor/Essex region.

Erika Pozzuoli, BSW, MSW, RSW
Owner, Pure Mentality, Mental Health Boutique

Currently, a practicing social worker specializing in the area of youth and young adults using a holistic approach to trauma-based therapy. Working over 10 years in the non profit field, I recognize the gaps in services and the collaboration it takes to build a strong mental health system. With experience in child services, housing, homelessness, and private practice, I hope to use my passion and talents to build unique responses to our mental health crisis locally.

John Elliott
Executive Director at Sandwich Teen Action Group

John began his career with the Sandwich Teen Action Group in 1993 as a Program Coordinator. He is currently in the role of Executive Director. “My life work and passion has always been to work with youth.”
